We are hiring:
- Two (2) Snowboard Coaches
- One (1) Wax Technician
About the Canada Winter Games
The Canada (Winter) Games is Canada’s premier under‑18 multi‑sport competition, bringing together youth athletes from all provinces and territories to compete across 20+ sports. Snowboard will feature multiple disciplines such as Parallel Giant Slalom, Snowboardcross, Slopestyle and Big Air, with provincial teams fielding two coaches and one wax tech, and gender representation requirements in coach selection.
Commitment & Key Dates
Successful applicants will be expected to commit approximately 18 months of preparation and competition support, including:
- Pre‑Games training camps, evaluations and scouting throughout 2025–2026
- Team selection, preparation, and competitive events (includes camps such as spring, summer, and pre‑Games windows)
- Travel to Québec City, Feb 27 to Mar 14, 2027, for the Games competition period.
Role & Expectations
Snowboard Coaches (2 positions)
- NCCP Requirements:
- Competition Introduction Certified at time of appointment.
- Competition Introduction Advanced Trained 90 days out from games
- Completion of NCCP courses : Manage a program (CD), Manage Conflict (CD) and Leading Drug Free Sport (CD) 90 days out from the game
- Safe Sport Requirements:
- EPIC Police Check
- Canada Games E-Learning Module
- Safe Sport Training
- Understanding the Rule of 2
- Making Headway in Sport (Concussion Training)
- Experience:
- Minimum three years coaching LTAD Stage 4 or higher
- Proven ability to develop athletes in high-performance environments.
- Additional:
- One male and one female coach to be chosen
- Available for all scheduled camps, competitions, and Games dates.
- Must meet deadlines; failure to do so will result in replacement.
Willing to commitment to Team NS policies, Safe Sport standards, and athlete welfare.
Wax Technician
- Demonstrated expertise in snowboard tuning, waxing, and preparation for varying snow conditions.
- Works closely with coaches to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Preference given to those with coaching experience and the ability to work on snow with the coaching team.
Must have prior to the Games:
- EPIC Police Check
- Canada Games E-Learning Module
- Safe Sport Training
- Understanding the Rule of 2
Available for pre-Games camps and all competition days as requested or able to support coaches in preparation for travel.
Willing to commitment to Team NS policies, Safe Sport standards, and athlete welfare.

Canada Winter Games and the Coaching Association of Canada support new coaches gaining knowledge by joining experienced coaches at major games through the Canada Games Apprenticeship program. The program is currently under review and as soon as the information for the next round of apprentices is published we will share this to our members.
