SPORT ACCIDENT INSURANCE PROGRAM (SAIP)

PLEASE NOTE***

*SAIP INSURANCE CANNOT BE PURCHASED AFTER DEPARTURE FROM CANADA.
*SAIP INSURANCE DATES BEGIN THE DAY THE ATHLETE/COACH ETC. LEAVE CANADA FOR THE SANCTIONED OUT OF COUNTRY TRIP.
*SAIP IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR  CLUB MEMBERS DURING FIS TRAINING/COMPETITION WHO HOLD A FIS LICENSE FROM A NATION OTHER THAN CANADA. SPORT ACCIDENT INSURANCE MUST BE PROVIDED BY THEIR OWN FIS NATION AS PER FIS RULES, DURING THESE ACTIVITIES AND PROOF OF THIS INSURANCE MUST BE PROVIDED TO THE CSA.

IMPORTANT ACCIDENT INSURANCE INFORMATION:

1. Is only valid during Canada Snowboard sanctioned activities and competitions, including travel to and from the location of a Canada Snowboard sanctioned activity, and coverage 24 hours per day during the time period.

2. SAIP will cover any gaps in coverage or remaining medical expenses in addition to providing worldwide assistance in medical case management. SAIP provides tertiary coverage. In the event of an accident, claimants must first claim medical incurred expenses through their Canadian Provincial healthcare plan and private health care plan (e.g., employment medical benefits).

3. SAIP Members are solely responsible for initiating an in-country or out-of-country claim with AIG. Canada Snowboard will not manage claims on behalf of the claimant,

4. At the minimum, SAIP Level 3 is mandatory for FIS athletes. If athletes are travelling to and/or competing at multiple out of province and/or country events and training it is highly recommended they consider SAIP Levels 2 or 1.

5. Members are able to upgrade SAIP online through the registration system prior to training, competition or international travel.

6. For more information regarding coverage, review the SAIP Quick Reference sheet.
